Notes
A BORGIO black two-piece suit — the slim-fit "Galatro". A single-breasted jacket with notched lapels, a two-button front, a chest welt pocket and flap hip pockets, with matching dress trousers. The outer shell is a 73% polyester / 24% viscose / 3% elastane blend over a polyester lining. Structured and lined, so it is tailoring-cared — brush, steam and dry-clean, never machine-washed. Continental size 50.
Care regimens
Synthetic tailoring — suits & jackets
every ~30 daysCaring for structured poly-viscose suits and jackets without washing: brush, steam, air and spot-clean. Washing and a hot iron wreck the shape and glaze the fibre to a permanent shine — leave deeper cleaning to a dry-cleaner.
After each wear: after wear brush it off and air it, hang it on a wide shaped hanger and rest it a day; synthetics hold odour, so airing usually does the job instead of a wash.
Everyday
After each wear and periodically.
- Brush top-to-bottom with a soft clothes brush — it lifts dust and tidies the surface.
- Lift hair and fluff with a lint roller, and shave off light pilling gently with a fabric shaver.
- Relax creases with steam from a distance, keeping the steamer moving — never a dry hot iron.
Products and tools
What not to do
- Steam only warm and moving — too hot a steam, or an iron, glazes polyester to a permanent shine.
When dirty
When stained, holding odour, or once a season.
- Spot-clean stains with a barely-damp cloth and a stain remover, outside-in; don't rub or soak.
- For heavier soiling and a once-a-season refresh, take it to a dry-cleaner (the circled-P symbol).
- Before storing it for the season — clean and aired, on a shaped hanger.
What not to do
- Don't machine- or hand-wash — a structured, lined jacket loses its shape, and the viscose weakens when wet on top of that. Dry-clean only.
- No tumble dryer or radiator — high heat glazes synthetics to a shine or warps them.
Restore
only when needed
Only when the fabric has pilled or the jacket has lost its shape.
- Lift pilling with a fabric shaver — evenly and lightly.
- Restore the shape with steam and a shaped hanger; leave a deeper press to the dry-cleaner.
Products and tools
What not to do
- Static is a sign of over-drying — air-dry and air it out, never with heat.
